FlySafair Launches South Africa's First Free AI Travel Assistant, Lindi

FlySafair has made history as the first airline in South Africa to introduce a free AI-powered travel assistant named Lindi. This innovative AI interface is designed to streamline travel bookings and enhance customer service by providing 24/7 support via WhatsApp. Currently in its Beta phase, Lindi can assist with booking flights for individual passengers, changing names or seats on existing bookings, and offering travel information, positioning it as one of the most advanced AI tools in the airline sector.

According to Kirby Gordon, FlySafair's chief marketing officer, the airline's goal has always been to deliver an affordable, hassle-free, and punctual flying experience. He noted that AI and Lindi present an opportunity to provide a free private travel assistant to customers at scale, expressing excitement about the potential to improve customer service further.

Customer feedback since Lindi's launch has been overwhelmingly positive, with Gordon stating that interactions with the AI are natural and effective in helping customers accomplish their tasks.

Lindi was developed by Stubber, a South African tech company specializing in AI solutions. Guy Duncan, managing director of Stubber, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with FlySafair, highlighting Lindi as a testament to the capabilities of AI in enhancing customer service and automating business processes.

The introduction of Lindi aligns with a global trend of integrating AI assistants across various industries, including healthcare and retail. Gordon emphasized that while many airlines have created AI assistants for general inquiries, Lindi is unique in its ability to assist with bookings.
